This weekend with a lot of support from Nike Running Denmark & Deutschland, Johnny, Bianca, Anike and loads of other people, more than 15 NBRO members participated in the 39th Berlin Marathon. Having so far attended all the NBRO-marathon’s I would definitely say this one was the best. The arrangements made by Nike & Graviteam on our behalf were quite wonderful to say the least, a runners lounge on 20th floor and a cozy brunch together with Graviteam (at which a T-shirt design for the event also was presented).
At sunday the 42.2 km main-event awaited us. The weather was practically perfect for running, which at least for my part relieved some of the tension. I had a good and controlled run up until 37km from where it finally became tough. Luckily there were a good bunch of people from NBRO and Graviteam cheering (with confetti cannons!) which gave the legs some more power. I succeeded in beating my old record with almost 4 min – below 3.21.07 is my next goal..
And the other guys? Almost everybody made PR’s (including Jamil & Robert in costumes), we had a lot of guys below 3 hours, one at 2.48 and even one at 2.44 – but most importantly everybody had a nice experience (unlike at this years overheated CPH marathon).
Now there are a few ways to top the exhaustion that a marathon leaves you with; A few guys from NBRO did the ironman some time ago, Mike did the 6 hour run and this weekend almost everybody on the NBRO marathon team did personal records followed up by clubbing and reckless handling of alcohol.
We had a lot of fun and I know from these pictures that the guys were as tired as I was on monday..
